CRAIG G. MANNINO
Craig Mannino knows what it’s like to balance athletic life and real life. He’s a husband, father and successful business owner—and he still finds time to win bike races.
Craig, a Level 3 USA Cycling coach, co-founded 2Evolve in 2006 to share his secrets on how to fit training, athletics and competition into a well-rounded lifestyle.
Truthfully, it’s no secret at all. For Craig, it involves pre-dawn intervals and weekend group rides, but his most worthwhile accomplishment has nothing to do with race wins. It’s about how training and athletics have enriched Craig’s life for the better part of 25 years.
The athletic life started early for Craig. He took up martial arts at age 10 and over five years advanced to the first-degree brown belt level (one below the top ranked black belt). At 15, he took up cycling and was soon competing for an elite junior team at regional and national level events.
While intense competition at that young age can lead to burnout, Craig experienced the opposite. Junior competition was the beginning of a lifelong commitment to an active, healthy lifestyle.
These days Craig is busy raising a family and running Redfixfive, an award-winning creative firm in Irvine, California. But his passion for cycling has never waned. He’s a regular on the early morning “Coffee Crew” rides in Irvine, and a perennial contender at the Southern California Time Trial Series races. He even finds time for the occasional stage race.
Currently, Craig’s passion is helping others improve their fitness and race results without sacrificing family time, career goals and dessert. (Not all dessert, anyway.) Incorporating the fundamentals he learned in martial arts, he steers clients away from the commonly used training programs that place intense focus on specific events. Instead, he favors a more well-rounded approach that builds overall strength and fitness.
Craig sees his role as more than just a whistle-blowing motivator. He believes it’s about support. It’s about understanding what each individual wants to accomplish, and helping to fit those objectives into a busy lifestyle.
It’s about getting the most out of the athletic life.
